Major of the Week: Clinical / Medical Laboratory Technology

According to the College Board's Book of Majors, The Clinical/ Medical laboratory technology major is offered as both a two-year associate degree and a four year bachelors degree. In this major you are trained to perform laboratory tests such as hematology, blood banking, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, immunology and medical microbiology. Do you enjoy your science labs? Do you like hands on team work? Do you enjoy problem solving and puzzles, working with computers and technology? If you like biology and chemistry and are good at: attention to detail; critical thinking; organization; analyzing data you collect from experiments and have good spacial skills you may want to consider this major. This field is excellent for those who like the idea of working in the health care profession but are not interested in working with patients directly or perhaps do not want to study to be a nurse or a doctor.
